One of the most important parts of a product listing – aside from top class product photos of course is DESCRIPTIONS! Selling online, from a distance, means a customer doesn’t have the luxury of seeing, feeling, smelling or maybe even tasting your items. So your product descriptions need to give a customer a really detailed description and depict an accurate picture of the item.
Short Description
Your short description should give a quick, but clear, idea of what the customer should expect to receive. Try and include a good amount of key words for SEO purposes.
Bad example : “Scented Soy Wax Melts” – This is too short.
Good example : “Pack of 6 wax melts, highly scented and handmade from soy wax with over 30 fragrances to choose from! Perfect for keeping your home smelling fresh.” – This description not only tells the customer exactly what they will be receiving, but it also highlights that there is different scents to choose from and also provides short sales pitch telling the customer with a reason why they should buy the item!
Long Description
In here you should try to think of any possible RELEVANT questions a customer might have and provide an answer. Remember, many customers who buy online find it inconvenient to have to contact sellers to request more information – it will often deter them from purchasing.
Here is some questions you might want to provide answers to:
Who is it suitable for or not suitable for?
What is it made of?
What size is it?
What does it smell/feel like?
Where should it be stored?
How can it be cleaned?
How is it made?
Does it require any assembly or maintenance?
